Climbing Toward Confidence has begun!

The first session of CTC began on Monday, October 20 with 18 excited participants and mentors!

CTC is an empowerment program for 7th and 8th grade girls aimed at building confidence and reducing the risk of sexual violence. Through activities and discussions, girls examine and learn about healthy body image, gender stereotypes, power and relationships, boundaries, assertive communication and sexual violence. Each participant is paired with an adult female mentor, and together the two learn to rock climb. Participants will emerge from the program with increased self-confidence, heightened body awareness, improved self image, and strengthened communication skills.

This program is open to all 7th and 8th grade girls in Asheville, NC. It is a project of Our VOICE, Buncombe County's sexual assault response center, and is made possible through an Education and Equity Grant from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and generous in-kind support from ClimbMax Climbing Center.
